TheInternationalSocietyforGynecologicEndoscopywasformedin1989byagroupcommittedendoscopistsfromEuropeandNorthAmerica,whoweresoonjoinedbyothersfromallovertheworld.Theyrecognizedtheneedforascientificgroupwhowouldmeetatregularintervalstosharetheirknowledgeandexpertiseingynecologicendoscopy.

TheSocietyhasmetbienniallysince1989andAnnualCongresseswereheldfrom1996on.Since1997aRegionalMeetingdealingwithaspecifictopicisadded.FutureCongressesandMeetingsarescheduled4yearsaheadandfrom2004asecondannualRegionalMeetingisforeseen.Allmeetingswillbeindifferentzonesoftheworld.

TheGoalsOfOurSocietyAre:

Toestablishaninternationalforumfortheexchangeofinformationandnewideasbetweengynecologicendoscopists.ThisfunctionisprovidedbyannualscientificmeetingsandbycontributionstotheaffiliatedJournal,oneofthepremierjournalsinthisfield.

Toprovideleadershipandunprejudicedacademicexcellenceinthishighlyimportantfield.ThequalityofthescientificmeetingsandworkshopswillbemaintainedbytheScientificCommittee.AdviceisalwaysreadilyailablefromtheBoardmembers.

Topromotesafetyandcompetenceingynecologicendoscopythrougheducation.RegularcoursesandTrainingProgramsareruninmanycountries.TheircontentisscrutinizedbytheScientificCommitteebeforetheygainapprovaloftheSociety.TheSocietydoesnotcontrol,butdoesmaintainaninfluenceonthequalityandteachingcontentofthecourseswhichareorganizedunderitsauspices.

Toscientificallyinvestigateandevaluatenewendoscopictechniqueswhichmaybeofbenefittowomenandreporttomemberstheiruseandeffectiveness.
